"Tu sais peu de français pour un Français," Vivi murmured, still looking rather amused by this, and pulled out a medium sized bottle filled with water to take a good sip out of before pocketing it. "I do not voyage often, mais...I perhaps desire to."

Amalia shrugged. "I travel quite often, myself," she said resignedly. "It comes of being known across the continent." And I've found myself in situations that would make even you cringe, Mr. Hurst, she thought, but didn't say aloud.

Degaré gave Vivi a slight glare before speaking again. "Peut-être il est parce que l'anglais semble être un milieu pour les trois de nous." He then turned his attention back to Amalia and listened to her response. He could tell that there might be a deeper meaning to it, but he didn't press her with any questions. People were more likely to give information when they felt like they could trust someone. "I do quite a bit of traveling myself," Degaré said in passing. "My investments prior to the revolution managed to net me quite a bit of money so I use it to sail to different countries. It's quite nice."

Amalia grinned. "Nous pouvons parler français si il est plus facile, mes amis," she said. "Mon français est rouillé, mais il n'est pas trop mauvais." She also just plain loved the French language. It was so beautiful. Perhaps I should write a song in French, she mused, reminding herself to ask someone later if it sounded like a good idea.

"The Anglais nor le Français is difficult, Mademoiselle...Monsieur Hurst, he agrees, non?" Vivi gave the man a more friendly smile, trying to sort of set things straight and make him a little less hostile.

"Il n'importe pas dans quelle langue nous parlons," Degaré said with a slight smile and nod to both Amalia and Vivi. "Cependant le Français est une jolie langue. Peut-être nous pouvons nous servir de ce langage puisque nous pouvons tout le parler."
Degaré leaned back a bit as he leaned his head onto his hand, which was perched up on the table. "Though I am quite fine whatever way we choose to speak."

"Let us simply parle this way," Vivi suggested, not wanting to change anything with this moment.

Amalia shrugged, and nodded. "D'accord. As you wish, then." She smiled, tucking her long golden hair behind her ears, where it wouldn't get in her face. She smoothed her jacket with slight nervous hands- talking with people was never really her strong point, though she could pull it off nicely when necessary.
